I was working on my ski... as usual!!!.. and saw a split in the metal of the MAG side carb.

A couple of questions. 1st, is it okay to only purchase a MAG side carb only or do I need to purchase both MAG and PTO carb?
If a used carb is okay I would get a rebuild kit for both MAG and PTO carbs.

2nd. Would like recommendation on good place to purchase remanufactured carb.

Thanks for the help.

Can you post a pic of the problem?

The best place for a used carb is eBay. A new one will cost +$400.

Here is a pic of the carb... as you can see I made matters worse trying to get a stuck bolt off the carb.

The PTO carb is fine and ready for rebuild.

I was hoping that I would be okay just purchasing a used carb and rebuilding or purchasing a remanufactured MAG carb.

Or is it even possible or feasible to just purchase the broken throttle body ?

Thanks for your help .. You have helped so many others on this forum, I am glad you gound time to help me !

BTW.. Ski is 96 GTX

Thanks again

If you buy the same model carb, the only issues are if it's fully operational and you can sink-up all the linkage. There is no reason that I know of to replace both of them unless it's cheaper to but a set. I wouldn't buy part of a carb under any circumstance.

That's just ugly. My worry would be the hunk that's missing. (and id it go into the engine)

You probably can't buy a rebuilt carb outright. Most rebuild shops dont' do that... and new is crazy expensive. If you can find just a body... that's fine, and you can transfer your parts into it.

Thanks

To all that helped ... THANKS !!

I was lucky enough to go on Ebay this morning and someone was selling a pair of carbs for my Seadoo. Picked em both up for 150.00. Attached a pic so you can see what I got !

Not sure if these are the ones you were bidding on ... bidding ended at 3:00 EST today. But the description is the similar.

Here we have a set of stock seadoo 787 stock carbs, Part removed from a 96 XP. carbs were just cleaned out, They were not rebuilt. Looked good inside except for needing cleaned. Ran the boat good. This is a bolt on and go set of carbs, the cleaning has already been done.

Anyway ... while I am sad you didn't get it .. I am happy that I won !!!
