I rebuilt the carbs on my 99 GTX Limited, replaced the fuel valve and all the fuel lines. The motor will not rev any higher then 6200 rpm, I tested the tps and I have 5 volts on the white wire all the time. I hear it is supposed to go to o volts at 80% throttle and above, mine does not. I have made cable adjustments every which way and still nothing. A factory replacement cable is around $300 :o, I can get one from SBT for $99.95 . Does anyone have any input on this? Hoping for a little advice..... Thanks LittleAl

5v would be the output of the MPEM. I think you need to take your reading off the other wire.

I'm not sure why you need a new cable. Are the throttle bottle not opening all the way?

As far as i know the purple is the 12v, I have that, the black is ground, got it, and the white is the signal to the MPEM.... The throttle blades open all the way, Idle is fine, but it just wont rev past 6200rpm. Rave valves are working, tried another set of plugs, nothing. Here is a link to the test info I found for the tps. http://www.revlimiters.com/html/99-02_tps.html

Sorry... I saw TPS, and I thought you had an RFI engine.

Yes... the LTD system is goofy.

Do you have aftermarket grips on the ski? Sometimes thick grips cause problems.

I read over that guide, and it's a little different from factory manual. Basically, you roll the idle screw out until the throttle plates close, and then take the slack out of the cable. (at the carbs) then, hold it open, and adjust the cable until the carb stop is JUST OFF the stop. (you don't want to put strain on the cable) Then... turn the idle screw back in, and after it makes contact... turn it in 1-1/4 turn. That's it. If you don't get full RPM the "TPS" is bad.

I have the SBT one, it's OEM. Works fine. My oil cable end of it snapped off, necessitating a replacement.

Dealer said $160, not in stock. SBT is $100... wasn't a hard choice.

Hey Doc, I have the stock grips, I adjusted the cable all over the place but can't get the voltage signal to change. I ordered a new cable from SBT last Friday, should be here Fri. I took it out for a ride today (101 degrees in Wi) and it runs great, just won't RPM. I am pretty sure the new cable will fix (I hope). I will post an update when I know more. AWESOME FORUM !!!!!!!!!!!!
