Working on a ski for a friend that has an intermediate spark issue. I tested everything that I have values for mpem, coil, lanyard post, start stop switch, gen coil etc. I don't have a wiring diagram though when it dies if I hit the start button it stays running. I've traced it down to the blk/rd wire in the electrical box. If I disconnect the blk/rd wire that pig tails from the mpem to coil when it starts to die, it keeps running. If I start it disconnected it runs fine. My only guess it's from the gen coil unless someone has another ideal, looking for suggestions at this point.

I've seen some suggestions on that model XP that has to do with the trim shorting things out. I'm sure one of guys will jump in with some ideas for you.

which wire are you speaking of...pigtails all the way from the e-box to the mpem ..can you take a pic of it for us

The vts has been disconnected years ago so i don't think thats affecting it though the wiring in this thing is a mess. The blk/red wire comes into the e-box and splits (pigtails)to the cdi/coil and mpem. Disconnecting the mpem from the cdi/coil and it runs great. I'm just not sure where the red/blk wire goes out of the e-box. I even replaced the mpem with a good spare I had but the same issues still happen.

The black/red wires goes from the generating coil (magneto) to the mepm and also the a tap on the ignition coil, its very clear on the electrical diagram. Try downloading one.

Thanks Lou, I tired a few downloads but the wire colors are all different from what I have. Like I said before, the wiring is all butchered up. Later today I'll be pulling the fly wheel to get a look at the mag to see if there is anything that could be tripping the mpem to shut off the ignition.
