Hi, i bought a double trailer and a "95 GTX came with it (non running) the guy informed me it had the "oil in cylinders" issue going on, so i just got done clearing it out and starting it up!! It smoked badly as expected, then that diminished, it sounds good and idled well!! I t still had two year old gas in it and fired right up!! He had put it away for the winter 2 years ago and that following spring he noticed the oil problem!! A couple questions i have are first: he had disconnected and pinched off the oil line right before the filter and the tank slowly emptied, i'm not sure what he was running but i put in some XPS Synthetic so it would have oil....is this ok?? Should i run synthetic from here on out?? Also, should i be concerned with there being air in the oil lines?? I guess i'm just wondering what things i should look out for regarding the injection system now that i have confirmed the ski will start and run well at least on the trailer?? I don't want to ruin what could potentially still be a good ski by overlooking something!!! I guess the real question will be how long it takes for it to fill the cylinders again, right?? Sorry the post is so long,i just want to do this right!! Thank you!!!!!!

The reason the previous owner pinched off the oil line is probably because the ski has leaking crank seals. I would suggest pinching off the line when you are not using the ski. XPS2 synthetic is fine, it's overkill, you could save money and use synthetic blend or mineral oil.

Yes you should be concerned about bubbles in the oil lines, I would suggest that you service the oil system, change the oil filter, change the small oil injection lines, then bleed the system.

Thanks as always Lou!! So where should the lines be "pinched" off, or does it matter?? Also, since i put some of the XPS Syn. in the oil tank (just a little) is it ok to go back to the mineral oil stuff?? Also, where can i get the small oil injection lines? Is that specialty stuff or easily found??

I can't answer your oil question on whether they can be mixed....but...
On the oil lines. I just replaced all my oil lines to clear......the ones coming from the tank can be oil rated vinyl....the small ones, Lou recommends Tygon type, I bought yellow ones, 3/32' size can be found at almost every lawn mower shop.....as they use it for weed whackers, etc.....not cheap though....about $6-$7 a foot

Wow, you gotta be kidding, $6.00-$7.00 for tygon fuel line. Was it gold plated? I got mine at ACE Hardware, less than $1.50 a foot.

If you can't find it locally order it from McMaster-Carr.
