Hello Everyone! I have recently (as in 1 week ago) purchased a 94 Seadoo SPI. When I purchased this ski I was told it needed a new battery and starter. I was also told the carbs were rebuilt last summer and this ski ran after carbs being rebuilt. I only purchased the non-running ski because I was able to get it for very little $$.

When I got it home, I put a new, fully charged battery in it and new spark plugs and to my surprise it started right up. So we went to the water to test, it fires right up first time but dies. After several attempts of getting it started it would never fully turn over. Pull it back out of the water and it started up 1 more time and then quit again. I was told by someone who owns 2 skis who was there that day that it was the starter (which is what the guy who sold it to me said) so I replaced the starter and STILL will not start.

The only noise when the start button is pushed is a clank, like the motor is locked. All electical has been tested and check fine, except the only question I have there is the solenoid shows 12V on all EXCEPT the one going to the starter, it only shows 6V, is that correct or is there a problem there?

I have pulled the plugs and still doesn't start. The motor will only manually turn about 1/4 of the way.

Is the motor locked? I have also been told that it could be the jet pump or a bearing, can anyone give me any insight on what the next best thing to check would be? Or should I try selling this as is and find something different?

I am a new seadoo owner and still learning but fairly mechanically inclined.

Thank you in advance for your help!

ill buy if you wanna sell but if not pull pump and see if motor turns. if it doesnt turn, either broken rod or bad crank bearing, pistins/rings.. something damaged inside engine
