92 GTS Carb issue

Boy I could use some help on this one. I will try and run down what I have done to date. I have a 92 GTS which I believe has the 580cc motor with a single carb. Jetski was running then it would only spit and sputter a bit. The ski had sat for several years so I decided to clean and rebuild the carb. When I received the rebuild kit it was missing the clear plastic fuel pump diaphragm and the two small round clear plastic check valves. It did have the center black rubber plugs so I did replace the center holding plugs but reused the clear plastic pieces since they appeared in good shape. Pressure tested the carb after I got it re-assembled. It passed the pump diaphragm leak test, the popoff pressure (30 psi)test and the needle valve holding pressure of 10 psi. When the carb was re-installed I started the ski with some gas poured in the top of the carb. It would only run for a minute then die once the gas I poured in was gone. I then found what was probably the original problem which was both the main and reserve tubes in the gas tank had cracked and broken right at the feedthru nipple at the top of the tank. This was probably the original problem. I measure the tank height and install two tubes of different lengths. I now had gas to the carb. When I poured some gas in the top of the carb it would start and continue to run as long as I kept the RPM's up. It would stall after a couple of seconds if I let it go to idle. It would not start again unless I poured more gas into the top of the carb. When I rebuilt the carb I did pull out the low speed mixture screw and the main jet screw. I re-installed the low speed mixture screw backed out to the proper location per the service manual. The main jet screw has that plastic locking fitting on it to prevent you from adjusting it more then 1/4 turn. The manual does not say how many turns to back the main jet screw. I backed it out about 1 turn. I don't think this has anything to do with the problem I am having but figure someone could let em know what the proper setting is for the main jet screw. The tubes in put in the tank do not have any kind of check valves or filters on them but I do have gas present at the carb at the inlet tube. One thing I noticed was the opening thru the fuel pump housing for the return gas is very small. Is this correct? I can blow air thru it but it is very restricted. When I add the gas to the top of the carb and start the engine it revs up great but if i let it go to idle it will stall and not start again with out me adding some gas to the carb. It is as if the fuel pump does not have the strength to pull the gas into the carbs when starting or at low revs. As I was writing this up it occurred to me that maybe there is a leak in the pulser hose. I think I will contact the place that I bought the rebuild kit from and try and get the missing pieces (pump diaphragm). Sorry for the long write up but i wanted to give you all the information I could. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Don
