4 beeps when pressing the start button..

When trying to start my boat I put the lanyard on and get 2 beeps. As soon as I press the start button it beeps back 4 times and will not start. I pulled the shifter out and tested the nuetral wires (2 wires) because it seems to me that the boat thinks its in gear. The 2 wires test good (wires internally connect when in nuetral).

Any ideas on what to look for???

4 short beeps means it's not in neutral. Try jumping the wires together to bypass the switch.

ok. I bypassed the switch and still the same problem. 2 beeps when I put the lanyard on then 4 beeps when I press the start button.

Any other thoughts?

I would check the wiring and connections from that switch all the way back. It is probably losing connection somewhere.
