oil light stays on. there is oil in the tank and lines. The first time we started it this summer it was not on then a couple weeks went by and was going to go out again and the light was on. what's the first things we need to look at checking?

First you need at least 1/4 tank for the light to go off. There's not much to the circuit, a float and a switch. When the oil level drops below 1/4 tank the switch closes. Unplug the connector, if the light goes off replace the float/switch assembly.

Thanks guys, that is good info. I will check it out and let you know. It sounds kinda like this float might be sorta like those old fibre floats that were in Quadrajet Carburetors-after a while they would just absorb gasoline until they would no longer float so they would just sink and not shut off the gas.
