So I was finally able to take out the 2001 gtx I purchased. It has a noise at the jet I can't figure out. I replaced the bearings, seals and fluid in the jet and the noise is unchanged. Kind of a high pitched noise that comes and goes and it sounds as if it is directly coming from the rear of the ski. Also, there is a lot of the 2 stroke oil sitting in the bottom of the hull that wasn't there before I rode. I'm guessing that can only be originating at the reservoir or supply hose(?). any common areas I should check first? Next, the thing died while cruising around the lake. After that it would start for only a few seconds and die and eventually wouldn't even start (just crank). The next day I tried it and it started right up. After finding all of the oil in the hull I wondered if there is a safety shut off that cuts off the engine if your oil gets low. Never heard any beeps or saw any lights though. Lastly, before I had any dying issues with it we noticed with one person on the ski it would just fly. With two people on it would rev up but take a LOOOOOOng time to plain. Once out of the water it would do great. It was like the engine was revving up but it just wasn't going (Like the impeller was out of the water.

check the grommet in the bottom of the oil tank, they have been known to leak

sounds like your carbs may need rebuilt

if you are getting high rpms but not moving that is cavitation, check the clearance on your wear ring, or the carbon seal on your driveshaft is leaking air.

I'm wondering if the carbon seal is contributing to my cavitation problem AND my strange noise towards the rear of the ski. Do these seals make noises when they go bad?

it could very well be your cavitation issue but never heard of them squealing, would be pretty easy to find out though by running ti on the hose and removing the pto cover (the carbon seal is under there).

might want to verify your oil injection lines on the front of the engine have not broken and are the cause of your oil leak. of course it they were the engine would seize pretty quick.
