2000 Sea Doo XP - idle increases when out of water

Just cleaned Rave valves and the XP runs great with no bogging. Got it home to flush it out after on the water. Started it up and the idle took off on its own. RPM's were over 6000. Pulled the kill switch and it didn't shut off. Had to pull the choke to stall it out. Tried it again and the idle ran up but the kill switch worked. Anyone ever experience this or have any ideas??? Throttle seems to work fine.

I just had a very similar problem with my 96GSX, here's the thread. We pretty much decided it really wasn't a problem.

With that said over revving is usually caused by an air leak. Check the base gaskets, leaks in the fuel system, if you care to check, if it runs O.K. in the water I wouldn't be too concerned.
