I've had the ski out three times previously with no problems. The only thing I did differently was change the spark plugs. Went out yesterday and it ran fine for awhile, but then for some reason it started running strange. With full throttle (or any other steady setting) the engine would not seem to make full (or relative) rpm's. It was smooth, but would drop off in power then come back up, and continue that way. We let it rest for a bit and then it seemed to run fine for a few minutes and then the problem came back. It's almost as if the fuel feed was being continually/intermittently interrupted. I'm not super-mechanically inclined, but wanted to ask people I trust before heading into the shop. Any thoughts?

HI, One thing to check is, Do you still have the gray tempo fuel lines. If so, then change them ASAP to the black auto fuel lines.

What's the compression?

Haven't done a compression check, but it's been running great. It definitely seems like a fuel issue. How difficult is it to change the fuel lines?

not too hard. but the right size hose and SS clamps or zip ties. It's a bugger taking off the old OEM clamps. You MUST clean the carb filters too as they are probably gummed up from the green goo. I would add an in-line fuel filter also. Clean or replace the fuel selector knob - the on/off/reserve knob.
Do one line at a time to be sure you place the hose correctly.

On home page, scroll down to "how to tech" section and look for In-line filter tips by Dr. honda.

Yep... what he said.

Your problem is the beginning of the dreaded "Tempo Fuel line Issue."

DO NOT keep running the ski that way. Basically, it's running lean, and you WILL melt a piston.

Thanks! Sounds like I have a project for the week. Bad thing is that this was the first time the wife went out to ride. She hasn't ridden since we sold our older Seadoos when we started having kids 14 years ago. Hope this is a relatively minor, inexpensive, somewhat easy fix because I want to buy a second one. My "green light" to buy may be turning to yellow.

The whole cost of new fuel lines will be about $30 and about 3-5 hrs of labor. Just be patient and go slow.
If you change the lines but leave the carb filter gummed up then your work will be for naught as it will still be running lean as the Dr. said.

Maybe a few $ more for new carb filter if needed, but you can clean them.
