1996 Seadoo XP no beep but starts and VTS fuse?

Hey everyone, new to this forum but not new to these kinds of websites so I realize you all will berate me for not searching. However my problem seems to be harder to find examples of. Tonight for the first time the tell-tale 'beep beep' was not present when plugging in the lanyard, the weird thing is the gauges acted normal and the machine fired up and ran. Any ideas as to why it isn't beeping and is this something to worry about?

Secondly, can anyways show me where the 7.5A fuse is for the VTS.

Your beeper probably just died. It happens. Since you've got gauges to tell you if anything is wrong it's not a huge deal. As for the brand fuse it's in the rear evocation next time the battery.

Most of the mid 90's skis have a dead beeper these days. You can get a replacement from radio shack for $9. It's not a perfect fit... but it works, and is a fraction of the price of the OEM buzzer.

As Purple said... it's not a big deal, in the fact that it won't keep you from running. BUT... that buzzer is you over temp alarm, and it could keep you from roasting the engine. So, I always recommend replacing it.


The VTS fuse is in the gray electrical box. But be careful. The VTS on most of these skis is locked up, and that's why the fuse pop's. If you put in a new fuse... the current draw can take out the MPEM. It's rare... but it happens. Personally, I would open the VTS unit, and check it out. If it's rusty/crusty... I would pull it out, and service it first. If it's clean and dry... replace the fuse.

So the VTS fuse is located in the grey electrical box beside the fuel tank or in the black box beside the battery? Or both?

Sorry... it looks like it's in the rear black electrical box. I should have known that off the top of my head since I own a 96 XP (lol)

Any idea what the fuse looks like? Does it resemble an automotive fuse or is it inline? I searched on google images but didn't find a clear picture of the fuse and its location in the black box.

about the beeper. i have a '97 xp and my beeper sometimes wants to work and sometimes doesnt. I know its not dead cause when it doesnt beep it still makes two very faint vibrations ( meaning ignition is ok). but true if it overheats i wont be able to tell if its vibrating lol

The fuse is an ATC type it's an automotive fuse used mid to late 70's, looks just like the new fuses only larger. There should be a spare inside the rear electric box.

You can get a replacement beeper at Radio Shack, it's about $9.00. Seadoobuddy has a source for a direct replacement for about $35.00. The purple/black wire is the positive.

Forgot to update this thread, I purchased a new beeper from Floyd Bell for $16 but shipping was $20 express to Toronto. I would have been able to live without (my gauges would inform me of an overheating issue) but the Seadoo's other owner, my brother, couldn't live without the 'beep beep' lol let me know if you have any questions.
