Have been working on this 02 GTX DI issue for a while now. THere is a huge vibration through the motor, from idle to higher RPMm that is vibrating the whole machine. It has broken tuned pipes at the exhaust manifold and snap bolts that also hold the pipe at the manifold.
This what I have done so far with no solution yet.
All motor mounts are tight and secure, All mounts for tuned pipe are new and tight.
Pulled the Jet pump, prop and drive shaft last night and everything looks great.
Thought I would start the machine with the drive shaft our now to see if there was still a vibration. Same vibration thorughout the whole machine and sound, seems a little loader than it should be but this is in the garage with no water to it. Can feel the vibration on the body while leaning against it. Pulled the Mag side plug wire started it and same vibration, pulled the PTO side plug wire and same vibration. Pulled both and of course would not start. The idle and vibration and sound is the same running on one or both cylinders, seems strange but true.
The machine starts great but I am thinking there might be something internal in the motor that is wrong.
Has anyone else heard of this type of problem before?

2 things:

1) It's a 2-stroke... so it vibrates.

2) That engine has a counter balance... and I guess if the weight shifted... it would vibrate very bad. Unfortunately... the only way to check the counter balance is to split the engine case.

Makes sense Dr. Honda - Thank You
My 03 GTX DI's run very smooth compared to this 02. This one feels like your in a vibrating chair, kinda relaxing, in sense. I am a little suspecious that some one has had this machine apart as when I pulled out the drive shaft, there were no rubber snubbers on either end of it and the PTO end was dry with no grease.
Looks like these counterweights are pressed on with no WR keys, so would it be possible for the weights to rotate on the balance shaft? I will break it apart to see if maybe some one else had it apart and did not align the balance gear with crank gear. Bummer but looks like the only option right now.

Thanks Again Darrell

Right... there isn't anything to align them. (like a key) I've never heard of one moving on it's own... but anything is possible.

OK... if it's shaking like a massage chair... then I have a suspicion that it's the counter balance.
