sea doo spx jet ski power

i recently started up my seadoo 96 spx and it turns right on and sounds good....one problem...once you try to accelatare it just dies and goes maybe 10-15 mph tops. it seems like it wants to accerlerate but itll just lose power. could this maybe be a dirty carb?
