Ok Update: I wasn't able to get the damn connectors to stay on the pins to check the trigger. Sat up all winter.
Recap:
-No spark to left engine
-No beeps when left mag is connected properly/ 2 beeps when connector is removed. Right engine starts either way.
Any ideas?
As long as you are mechanically inclined (can do repairs yourself) and can afford a potential engine replacement AND maintenance (I made several repairs to my '97 speedster during my 2 years of ownership, including carbon seals, wear rings, a driveshaft and a new DESS lanyard) then I say go for...
Oh and this may be significant!....... When I unplug the trigger coil harness from the non running engine and plug in the lanyard, I get 2 beeps. With the harness plugged in I get absolutely nothing, even though the other engine cranks..... hmmmmmmmmm
Anyone have a test harness they want to sell/ loan? Its virtually impossible to get test leads back there to the appropriate pins. Only room for one arm and you cant see shit
Where is this harness supposed to be located? All I see is a harness with 2 black wires and like 3 or 4 yellow ones. It's on the back of the crank case, toward the front of the boat right?
Tested the white coil wire on the running engine with a test light. No light unless engine is being turned over, then light pulses.
Non-running engine: when I ground the test light and probe the white coil wire, I get a dim light that stays on. When the engine is turned over, nothing happens...
