Checking back in 2 years later...

I've already been through the 1995 pretty good. Tanks emptied/cleaned, checked compression, replaced plugs, trimmed wires, checked charging system, replaced battery, fuel gauge fixed, cleaned out hull really well, rebuilt carbs (including replacing needles and filters), set idle/low speed to...

oops, I put a 10A on mine to get it charged up quickly. Everything still works though, did I get lucky?

The Sea-Doo PWC Poppy Cover Thread

We purchased two Poppy covers for our GTX's and the initial quality and fit is very nice. I do feel that the material is a bit thin, so we'll see how they hold up under the dock.

I agree, I'm just trying to see if this is a ski I should love or patch up and pass on in favor of a better ski...I mean I have a '95 and a '96 GTX and I like the '96 MUCH better....I'd be more willing to work on it.

Jet pump removal, housing is stuck

My 95 was so bad I paid a dealership to do it after I pulled my work bench across the garage and broke a 2x4 trying to get enough leverage on it.

RESTO 96 and 97 GTX Build

What a great thread, I'm glad to see a lot of 96-97 GTX's on here. I'll for sure have support if I have issues down the line. I'm really glad mine was in great shape and I haven't had to do quite so much to it though. You've put a LOT of work into these!

    RESTO 96 GTX Project Shamu

Great thread! Turned out really nice. It's amazing what a ton of elbow grease will do. Also, being that I'm from Texas - I noticed your TEXMILE license plate! Did you have a cool car those were on?

That's what I'm thinking. I'd like a '96 GSX, but the lack of reverse kinda bugs me... I think I'm looking to off this '95 GTX for a '97 GTX...

Why's that? Is the 657x a good motor?

1996 Seadoo GTX/1998 Seadoo GTX Limited

My 1996 GTX's wear ring was basically missing. It sat and basically blew the ring out the back the first time it was on the water. Once I replaced it (easy job, unlike my 1995) it ran great.

Opened up this thread a couple of years ago: http://www.seadooforum.com/showthread.php?71617-New-guy-trying-to-get-SeaDoo-s-ready-for-the-water-95-amp-96-GTX-s/page2 With some help from the forums, I got both of my GTX's running pretty well. My 1996 GTX has been a rock and a great ski...

New guy, trying to get SeaDoo's ready for the water. 95 & 96 GTX's.

I had the dealer replace the wear ring and install my anti-rattle cone. $350 later it was all done and it ran great on the water. So both GTX's are 99% perfect, but neither fuel gauge works. Since my reserve works, I'm not all that worried about it, I'll get around to it eventually.

95 GTX Runs Great, Smokes Pretty Bad
