Hello, I had a 1996 gti and sold it and wish I would have kept it. I'm looking now at a 1997 1100 Yamaha wave venture and a 1996 Seadoo gsx 787 motor. Please give me some opinions on both . Thanks Randy

Hello, I'm checking out a 1996 GTI for a buddy tomorrow and have one for me already. It looks mint and well cared for with repair records available. What would be the lowest compression readings that would make you not buy this ? I won't be taking it on the water but will run it after checking...

It's actually a rough idle and if I just give it a little bit on the throttle it smoothes right out so I'm thinking it's too low

Hello and thanks for the reply. It's a 1996 gti. I couldn't even see the screws until I took the flame arrestor off. I know which screw now and was wondering if you can check rpm someway ?

One other thing I noticed is one of the low speed adjuster screws doesn't have the pin going through it. So would that have to be replaced to adjust? I'm really hoping I'm not opening up a can of worms because past idle this thing runs great so I'm probably wondering if I should have left it alone.

I'll have to see where the filter is and how I'd adjust the oil pump. The previous owners buddy owned a shop and went over this for him when he bought it.
