Mine was doing the same thing (2001 Challenger 2000) and I replaced it with a universal one Sea Dog 420488-1 Kill Switch with Lanyard from Amazon (not enough posts to link it) Had to open the hole in the dash a hair but it is great

Depending upon where the “clicking and thumping” is coming my from, this could be minor or it could be an indication of significant issues
