Seems like a lot of room between the impeller and west doing on the left side of those pictures, but that could just be the angle. Bigger problem seems to be the large crack in your thru hull.

On, so I definitely need a new starter. My question now is this : do I buy an SBT for $110, a cheapo for $45, or a used oem one for like 60 and hope it's not as bad as mine and can be rebuilt?

Got my starter rebuild kit today and took my factory starter apart and saw this. The commutator is missing one route of copper, and it looks like they're ear a serious sort that melted a bunch of copper and insulation

Thanks Nick. I tested the starter when it was out of the ski and still wasn't working. Ordered a rebuild kit for it. But the negative cable doesn't go to the starter ground, it's going to the plug wire grounding spot. It's this acceptable, or should I run it back to the starter when I reinstall?

Can the seal shown as #11 here (pto oil seal) be removed after the PTO is taken off without splitting the cases?
