Just to follow up, replaced idle control valve. Initially thought it fixed the problem as had a couple of runs with idle correct.
Today, idle is back in the 2300 range. Darn it.
I think the high idle and slow start/turnover are related. When idling correctly, no issue at all starting...
Interesting dsm. The Solenoid was definitely bad as starts perfect now with a new one. I did notice a loose connection on original solenoid so maybe this was my slow start issue. Oddly enough, rpm’s seem to be normal now but need a good day on pond to know for sure.
Checked ICV and was very clean.
After a few years of slower and slower starts, finally did not start at all this weekend at the end of the day. Just a single click. Put a screwdriver across solenoid and turnedover right away. Assuming this is one of my issues.
I did notice one of the wires...
Thanks for great suggestions. I don’t imagine it’s mechanical as the rpm’s are always perfect on start.
Will look at it this weekend. Is there a test or way to clean idle control valve? Or just replace and hope for the best : ).
Have a 2010 Speedster. When cold starting, rpm’s are normal around 1700. When she warms up, idles around 2100-2300.
Have a delayed start issue too when warmed up but not sure if it’s related.
Any help would be great.
Thanks for all previous advice...always very helpful.
I have a 2009 Sea-Doo speedster with 50 hours. Starts fine but when you throttle, oil light comes on and constant beep. I limp back to shore. Checked oil, it’s fine.
At dealer, they say no codes appeared. Asked if I wanted oil presssure...
Thanks so much. So is there a difference between starting/marine/deep cycle and marine deep cycle? We never really run stereo or anything with engine off as we are on a small pond up east. Main drain will be a lot of starting as tubers get in and out.
Looking for some advice. I have a 2009 sportster 155 that needs a battery. I can’t seem to find a lot of consistent advice for the type of battery. Some say deep cycle, others marine, and others marine/deep cycle. Just wondering what the right one is? Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks Gordo. My delay can be 1-3 secs I guess. The slow turnover worries me more sometime. Battery is 2 years old. Test good with an analyzer, but just barely in the good zone. Might just pick up a new battery next season anyway.
Hey Everyone. Awesome forum.
I have a 2009 Speedster with 40 hours. Sometimes when I start, it goes straight away. Other times, there is a delay when I press start and the engine is very slow to turn over.
No rhyme or reason as to when the slow start. Might be at the beginning or end of the...
