How long should (or could) a 4 stroke motor last?

My efforts do indeed seem to be equivalent to "jousting" at windmills. That doesn't make the cause any less "heavenly." Happy to be of service. Keep smiling.

Yikes! Something broke, don't know what or how to diagnose!

Not much gasoline used on that trip.

Yikes! Something broke, don't know what or how to diagnose!

Just for clarification, my avatar comes from the movie, "ZARDOZ" which has more to do with "The Wizard of Oz" than "Star Wars". And by the way, before I ever placed a post, I did telephone SEA DOO and spoke to two representatives. I was calm, and polite and spoke in hushed tones. I...

As in my other response, typing responses is rather enjoyable. And I hope others are enlightened, and educated, by my comments.

First morning on my 2011 GTX iS 260 Limited

Actually, responding to everyone's comments, and hoping that someone reads my responses and refrains from purchasing a SEA DOO PWC, is kind of fun. It helps me to relieve my frustrations. It's my catharsis. My comments certainly seem to increase some other people's frustrations...

    2005 GTX just stopped running

As we all are told, you should expect to invest money in a PWC. Nothing will last forever. The cost of having toys isn't cheap. But it sure bites to have a dead PWC the first day out. At least you were aware when you purchased a PWC with 234 hours that the possibility of a breakdown...

How long should (or could) a 4 stroke motor last?

Everybody will begin screaming at me, but as my answer to your original question, a 4-TEC SEA DOO PWC will last 47 hours before its timing chain will break and you will have to perform a major engine overhaul that costs thousands of dollars unless you can do the repairs yourself. Even then it...

2006 GTI Broken Timing Chain @ 47 Hrs. Any Suggestions?

I can feed the flame myself. Moderators haven't taken me off yet. I don't swear, and I try and be as polite as I can possibly be. I just want people to read the thread and come to their own conclusions.

It's really hard to move on when you suffer a $3,000.00 loss. It seems no matter how I sell it, fix it, or part it out, I'm going to suffer a $3,000.00 loss. But I'm glad that your PWC is not part of the recall, and that you have the wisdom to get rid of the SEA DOO when the warranty...

First morning on my 2011 GTX iS 260 Limited

Please be sure to check to see if your PWC is part of SEA DOO'S timing chain recall involving the 2011 models. Good thing you have a warranty! My advice is to sell the PWC the minute the warranty expires. Good Luck.

2006 GTI Broken Timing Chain @ 47 Hrs. Any Suggestions?

I'll add my $1.00 to the 2 cents. If you buy a supposed quality PWC like a SEA DOO with only 30 hours you don't expect it to break WITHIN 60 DAYS OF YOUR PURCHASE. If you can't afford to spend more than one-half as much as you spent to purchase the SEA DOIO PWC to fix it and make...

Yikes! Something broke, don't know what or how to diagnose!

I think your parenting skills leave a lot to be desired. "Hello, meet my son, the nine-fingered mechanic with the permanent lump on the side of his head." That would go over real well and be something of which to be proud. On this Forum some guys give advice on how to repair a broken...

Yikes! Something broke, don't know what or how to diagnose!

My father's name was not Jake (big or little), and I thank providence for that. Whether you like it or not, until the moderators delete me, I'm still here, expressing my opinion, as do you. Everyone has an opinion, and I have mine. I have no opposition to you stating your opinion, but...

2006 GTI Broken Timing Chain @ 47 Hrs. Any Suggestions?

What a deal! You pay me $700 for the GTI, put $500 worth of necessary parts in it (an honest quote for the parts that still need to be replaced) and you have a practically new 2006 GTI for $1,200 and 20 minutes of your time! That deal is almost too good to be true. You are an astute...

    Timing Chain Recall

Another stellar example of SEA DOO quality. It's a shame they won't own-up to their past deficient timing chains, such as the one that broke on my 2006 GTI after 47 hours. At least I would assume that the 2011's are still under warranty. And why wouldn't someone's "buddy" let them...
