The 720 engine put out 85 hp vs the 800 putting out 110 hp. I have a 96 xp and gsx and both have the 800. Very fun skis. As far as 2 for 1 trade? That's your call.

I remember that I had that problem once. I used a piece of mechanics wire and fished it through. It was corroded with hardened green goo. The wire was stiff enough to bore through it, but flexible enough to make the bend.

Yes, you can replace the bendix. Get the old snap ring off, in one piece if possible. And the bendix and gear will slide right off. They sell new bendix units also. The snap ring is the hardest part. I used a pair of vise grips to hold half the ring in place and a small screwdriver to open...

You can see the back 2 motor mounts. If you reach in and grab one side of engine on back of block, you can lift the engine a bit if broken or bolt come out. Same on front. By yourself a 2x3 inch mirror. You will need this when working on the skis.
