    Oils for 2 different SeaDoos

Thanks guys. I ended up just going with XPS synthetic oil. Better safe than sorry, even though it's pricey.

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

I installed the FloydBell m-80w beeper that was recommended as the equivalent replacement by the FloydBell company. And I’m reporting back that it works great! Actual beeper is red instead of black and slightly smaller. But it comes with an adhesive strip that let me affix it in place...

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

I bought the M-80W they recommended...I'll let you know how it goes.

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

@mikidymac I reached out to Floyd Bell to buy that part, and they told me they require a minimum purchase of 10 for that item. Instead, they pointed me to this one for my 98GSX Limited: There is a 10pc min on the SP-1136 custom alarm. PN M-80W is equivalent, and single quantities can be...

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

Thank you. Dang, I should have asked which one to buy first. It looked identical and I thought a beeper is a beeper.... I'll see if I can get a different one to try from Floyd Bell.

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

Ok, so I installed a new beeper, and jumped the fuel gauge. The fuel is now showing up as a full tank, so it's fooling the system to not beep at me for low fuel warning. That appears to have resolved the intermittent beeping. However, the new beeper did not fix the problem of the...

    Is VTS inherently flawed?

oh my gosh, I'm so glad I looked. I opened it up and water poured out. It's a mess in there. If I replaced the motor would that be a resolution to a potential problem? Or is it even worth the expense/effort? Unplugging it would be pretty easy to do. I don't even know yet how beneficial...

    Is VTS inherently flawed?

Thank you guys, I appreciate the good explanation. I'm going to open mine up and inspect to see if it's ever had water in it. If it looks good, I'll replace the boot, use the grease on the seal. If it looks crusty...I'm gonna unplug it. I appreciate it!

    Is VTS inherently flawed?

The part I was not clear on when they say the "module" is bad. Rather than the motor. Is that also due to getting wet? I thought maybe there was something flawed on the design of the module that was prone to failure. Is there just a way to unplug the thing to not worry about it? Or does...

    Is VTS inherently flawed?

Thank you! That seems like a pretty straightforward problem. So keep the water out...nothing to be concerned with? I understand the boot on the outside could crack, but if I always check that and replace at first sign of age...there's nothing else inside the system lurking to fry things?

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

No one replied to me. But I jumped the fuel gauge and will try it this weekend and see if beep went away. I ordered a new beeper to install so I will have a reliable test.

    Is VTS inherently flawed?

I have a general question. I read a lot of threads about VTS not working…or being removed….or being repaired…and a lot about it being a common problem…all the way up to frying the MPEM. My question is…what exactly is wrong with the VTS that makes it so problematic? Are they all just...

1998 GSX Limited - Random Beeping

I have a new-to-me 1998 Sea Doo GSX Limited that has a newly rebuilt engine. When I put the key on, it does not do the typical "beep beep," however, it does start and run fine. I have been doing new engine break-in procedures this weekend, and the first hour, everything was fine. Then all of...

    Oils for 2 different SeaDoos

I have two SeaDoos--one a 1996 GTS 5817, and the one I just purchased is a 1998 GSX Limited Edition. My question is about which oils are going to meet the manufacturer specs without breaking the bank. I understand the full synthetic API TC oil from Bombardier is recommended for the GSX. I...
