Hey! So I found a guy somewhat local in Galena Md. (I live in south jersey but do a fair amount of my boating in the northern part of the Chesapeake). He did the whole job including a new Bimini boot for $2500. I had to pull all the cushions and take them to him which is a bear of a job mind...
Hey all! Bought a 2000 islandia last year, boat was in pretty good shape. Hull and engine were real clean and tip top, but the vinyl was wasted... (pics included) So this year was the year of new interior... I changed up the colors while trying to preserve the character of the 1st generation...
So just wondering as i start my season... general consensus on best items for basic maintenance items that i am replacing to start the year, and throughout the year...
2000 islandia 240efi
1) best spark plugs?
2) best fuel filter?
3) best 2 stroke oil?
4) best grade of fuel?
5) best...
Son of a...! So I cut the dark blue/yell wire only, on the throttle guardian and boat starts and runs great... Took it out for a spin and performs wonderfully with no issue... Throttle guardian is the problem for sure, ordered a new one...
Only issue it that now I have no tach... At least...
Damnit! So that wasnt the issue, turns out the condition still exists. Lets start over, because I have this thing down to an electrical problem for sure...

1) Boat cranks, but wont start.
2) No spark.
3) Disconnect Black and yellow wire at the top of the CDI columns and...
Got it!!! So I left something out... The boat originally died when I hit a cross wake, but I thought it was a coincidence... Digging deeper I found this green wore wasn't making good contact... (See attached pics) fires right up... Good to go! Heading out now, I need a drink!

So turns out I was correct in being suspicious of my spark... Found out I don't really have spark... Kinda intermittent... As soon as I disconnect that black and yellow wire on top of the engine, it fires right up and runs as long as I want... So I'm guessing it's grounding out somewhere... Just...

starting with compression. compression test yielded 100psi on 6 of 8 cylinders. cylinders 7-8 dont exist so i wont spend any more time on them. :)
