What do u use to clean fuel filter

I have read not to use carb cleaner as it dissolves the mesh? What do you use? Sorry for the newbie question.

I used Oil Eater in a diluted state of 50/50. You could also use clean gas - just don't do it around sparks.

I use spray electrical contact cleaner that says " safe for plastic"
on can made by CRC. Works pretty good for alot of stuff.
