Default best pipe for a 97 xp 787

Just want to know what everyone is useing and how they like it. My stock pipe is in need of repair and was thinking I'd just buy a after market. I hear good things about factory pipes, but its out of my budget. How are the coffman, and rossier ? And what are reasonable prices for these pipes thanks

You should be able to buy a used OEM pipe for a lot less than new.
Have you checked out the prices of a new aftermarket pipe?

We have lots of guys selling good used parts here.

Id like to get my pipe fixed, but I'm eyeing a good deal right now and still debating what to do. If I were to install a aftermarket pipe would I need to rejett the carbs and do some tuning? What price would i be looking at to have a shop do this

One of the weld in plugs in my stock pipe started leaking from corrosion of water always sitting in it. I had a friend grind it out and weld in a new chunk of aluminum into it.

That welding is the best way to go because the epoxy style patch will fail you eventually and fill your hull while yer riding(trust me). I just put on R&D's 800 pipes on my 96 xp and my 96 gsx. I like it on the gsx better. This did need larger carb jets. I'm gonna try the Rossier on the xp next because there are more threads about it with a few proven setups to try as well as more HP to be had. I just saw one sell for $100 but it had no goodies with it and that stuff can add up(rev limiter, silicone boot, clamps, gasket). You have to choose your shop carefully as many of them will take the job but few will return you a upgraded ski thats gonna last you a long time.

i'd recommend just replacing the pipe with stock unless you plan on going all the way over time and this is just step 1.. nozzles, prop, F/A, water injection, etc.
personally i'm a fan of factory pipe, just look for a good used one, and get spec1, not spec2.
you should be able to get a stock pipe very reasonable, i shopped around recently when I needed one for my boat and a complete pipe in good shape was under $100, pipes in great shape were more, i got lucky and a local guy had one and we did a simple trade instead, he had the stock laying around because he went with spec1 also.,
