Default High temp exhaust rap pros or con?

Had some issues over the weekend with the exhaust getting so hot that I'd burner the foam next to it. I believe I found the problem restricted water flow, but I would like to rap the exhaust pipes in high temp tape, And also place a addition shield on the fuel tank. Does any one see a issue by doing this?

I wouldn't wrap the pipe completely. this will hold the hot temps in that much more.
Maybe a little bit next to the foam side to help protect it. appox. 4x4 piece at the most. In MHO.

Thanks , I was kinda thinking the same thing, how about replacing the coupler with a high temp silicon replacement?

Also.. the heat wrap will hold moisture... and could cause things to corrode. Fix the real issue with not having enough cooling water. The wrap would just be a band-aid. (just my 2 cents)

When that high heat wrap first came out everyone with headers on their cars started putting it on. The stuff absolutely destroys headers in no time at all. I have seen even ceramic coated headers destroyed because they were wrapped where they pass the starter. Every time the wrap heats up and then cools it absorbs moisture out of the air and then corrodes the metal underneath. Put it in an enclosed humid space that is always around water and I dont think your exhaust system would last very long.

Thanks for the heads up, I order a new coupler to replace the hole in my last one. I plan on troubleshooting the problem this weekend. I have the manual to follow but the previous owner had modified the cooling system to a dry system. So there is no wr valve just a hose that feeds to the water box.
