    Default Dealer Misrepresentation?????

Picked up new 2007 RXT today, dealer stated just opened from crate. Noticed several scuffs and sitcker residue on hull. Dealer polished somewhat and removed sticker residue. I asked what these were, and was told a serial # on port transom, and no idea of sticker below rub rail on forward port side. When unloaded at home, noted ski has 7 hours use. Ski was slightly dirty, looked a little aged on some fiberglass craze above foot well, and broken speedometer wheel at transom, so I kidded that this wasn't a repo deal. Assured it was just out of crate, after sitting in storage 1yr, so it's dirty and water restrictions prohibits washing ski. Phoned dealer, informed problem. He stated maybe left key on ignition and ran up hours- is that possible, or factory tested unit? I feel someone took my new ski for a full day of joy riding. Any advice or recourse.

The key being in the ignition should not run the hours up, all the equipment that I have seen runs the clock off the ignition, i.e. only logs hours when the motor is running, not when the key is simply in the ignition. Sounds like it might be a demo model... dunno. I would talk to the dealer... unless they gave you a smokin' deal then I would be pretty mad! If they sold it to you as brand new, and it was used, then that is fraud... I would definately talk to the dealer. Good luck!

yes , was to be brand new, even discussed should have only 1hr if tested at factory and dealership. Deal was $9900 plus 2yr extended warranty. I felt pretty good deal, but now little disappointed as I feel possibly deceived. I also feel hr wouldn't run up with key in ignition. Willing to give dealer chance to explain. Thanks for response.

I would not be letting that dealer get off the hook. A seadoo like that is used espically with 7 hours, give em hell dude seriously I would be PISSED. And that is from a dukie to a tarheel ......Don't let him play you like that

Thanks Mr Duke, my fault for not checking hr meter, just took his word for it. Has several concerns, but in rush I didn't check well. For record, dealer is nice enough, and for now I expect him to make this right, what ever that involves. Mainly want assurance not repo or demo unit. Would first and maybe 2nd service thrown in be fair to all?

take a look at this...i didn't even type in hours on the model but if you read whats below the price. Don't forget that is just the starting price. You and your dealer need to have a sit down remember they are just after the money. Just trying to help you out. When i bought my RXPX I saved 1500 bucks off his price and a free cover. I was out the door with trailer and cover for 13100. http://www.kbb.com/kbb/OtherVehicles...21&YearId=2007

    Default Welcome Tarheel....

Coming from an old hand of Waxhaw, where we passed the time of day looking for old arrowheads and shooting rabbitts to bring home for supper!...How's it going?
I have read these post, not once, but twice. Trying to figure out why this guy took you to the cleaners. There are usually a couple reasons, your very young and impressionable, you don't know that much about skis, you've never dealt with a vehicular salesman or he just felt you out and thought he could get over on you. Although I agree with SeaDooingFreak (which, BTW, you could use a little less anger in being PO'd....), I'd very much be interested in his explanation of the hours on your ski. No, it will not run up hours if you leave the DESS lanyard cap on. If you do and happen to forget it's on, it will beep every 3 seconds (4 short beeps) for a short period of time. So, it would remind someone that it's on.
You are right, 7 hours is a full days ride. What gets me, is you said the dealer said it was crated. If it were crated, then I'd want a return of my money. Or him to give me one with 1 hour or less time.
Although I don't know what an RTX is, I'll assume your talking about the RXT....if so, Kelly's blue book for the retail (resale) in excellent shape is $9020. So, either you didn't negotiate a "brand new" ski with him, or he had this one, which was bought by someone, took it out for one day and decided they didnt' want it and brought it back.
I'd have some serious questions if he said "it was just taken out of the crate" verses the fact that it does have 7 hours and a few bumps and bruises. But the price you paid, also reflects the price for a used PWC, at retail value..........
What does your paper work say on it? You can look on the back of the PWC, top right hand corner of the hull, thats the HIN number. The last 2 digits are the year.......The more I dwell on this post, the more I get a little heat under my collar. You should talk to the dealer. If he's wrong (and knows it) and see's your un-happy, he's gonna try and do something to make it up to you. Like you said, the couple of services etc....., but for the first year, you should be under warranty anyway...I smell a skunk.

Quality parts at low prices, visit Seadoowarehouse right here in our own forum. Please PM me if you are having a problem finding what you need!

Is your jet ski fast? Do you want your XP or RXP to stand out? I know a place that has what you need to make it faster. Make your jetsksi a muscle craft, not just the ordinary, standard stock ski.

Seen my GTX?... Those awesome graphics can be purchased from JetSki Detailing. Tell them Seadooforum sent you.

Ever wonder what the inside of your 787cc engine looks like. Want to identify the parts, check out my thread on the 787. I'm sure there is something for everyone who want to learn about the internal parts.

Yes, ski is RXT, sorry for typo. I'm not young or normally impressionable, but usually trusting. When he told me at boat show he had several crated 07 models, I accepted. Even spoke with factory rep. I've owned several seadoo's and ski boats so not first time for me. I just didn't check it out completely. Based on the scuff marks on deck, consistant with a brush with a dock, hours and very minor fading of rubber foot pads, I too believe someone tried out this ski and returned it. I feel dealer will make it right. What would anyone accept as a reasonable offer from dealer. Would 1st and maybe 2nd service at no charge be fair. Also I live 50 minutes from dealer, so some trouble and loss of time here.

    Default Warranty?

Aren't the first and second service already paid for by the requirements of the warranty?

I've never been told that, in fact tried to negotiate that at show, dealer wouldn't budge, so I don't think included. It probably is required for warranty. Basically ski reduced to $9899 at show and seadoo included 2 yr extended warranty. Any other thoughts?

    Default O.K....last thought..

This is my last thought (opinion)....
If your happy with the ski, then what you got is what you got. The 1503, 4-TEC, supercharged ski is the fastest thing on the market.
After 10 hours, your suppose to bring it in for a check-up. Well, hell, it's already got 7, so after 3 hours of riding, are you suppose to be the one to pay for that 10 hour service charge.
For some reason, I thought (maybe because it was true on my motorcycle), that if you buy brand new, for the dealership to protect your investment and them not shelling out the big bucks to pay for something that broke, they want you to bring it in and it's considered warranty service......so I'm still a bit confused.
And on a last note. You said you got it today, which was yesterday now. Well, on major purchases, there is a law where you are allowed to change your mind within the first 72 hours of ownership. You don't have a lot of time, but if I were in your shoes, knowing this guy just flat out lied to me (it's not out of the crate with 7 hours).......I'd use that as my reason to take it back. For that money, you could go to another dealer and get that same ski, with no scratches, scuffs or HOURS........! With the safisfaction that nobody else has bumped it up against the dock.
But now, if your happy, then I'd just settle. If he has tried to make you an offer to do this for you or that for you, then he knows damn good and well that he screwed you............................O.K., I've said enough

    Default Used Rxt?

    Hi everyone,
What I would do is call a different SeaDoo dealer service dept and give them your H.I.N. and ask if there is any warranty repair history on that ski. If there is it should have been recorded along with the ski hours at the time.
    GOOD LUCK, DAWG

If it was me, I'd confront the dealer first and see what he says. If he blows you off than I'd take some further action. It is only my opinion, but if it is a new seadoo than it better be a new seadoo. I wouldn't back down and just roll over. It's your hard earned money and I wouldn't let the dealer walk over you. He should make it worth your while to keep you happy.

Well I hate to say this but you have been riped off if your paperwork says a new ski. If it says a used ski you got what you payed for now if it is a new ski take it back ASAP and get your money back the first 10 hours are the most critical in the breakin of this motor and you can not run it wide open. Someone might have stolen that one and taken it for a joy ride and ran the poop out of it. If you paid for new you get new.

Dealer called Saturday, doesn't know why hrs. He offered 2 options, return for another ski, or keep and he will do 1 service around 15 hrs at no charge. Debating what to do, but ski runs fine and dealership 1 hr away, so may be too much trouble to exchange. Thanks to all for your help.

I would make him swap out the ski. Did you purchase a used boat? NOPE. You paid a premium to "be with her first". The fact that he said it was crated when it was obvious that it was not is deceptive at the very least.

I'm not saying to call him up and be a total arse but you should maximize his commitment to 'make it right'. ie: 2-3 service calls, throw in a 2nd DESS key, sell you some gear at dealer wholesale prices, etc.

How much is the single service call worth? If that's worth purchasing the used ski then take her to the lake and consider it the next time you purchase from a dealership

regardless, you bought an excellent ski!

Well, you will have to live with your decision. I know if I purchased a new seadoo it should be new. I have a 3 month old 200speedster without any kinds of scratches. That's how I am with my things. I'm not the type to buy a "Demo" seadoo either. You bought a new in the crate unit then it should be new. What's the savings of the service and the fact you didn't get to break in your own new seadoo worth? If I bought new ...I want new. it's just my opinion.
