    Default Fuel pump 2005 RXP

Hi Everyone, How can I check if the fuel pump of my 2005 RXP is working properly. Because when I removed the fuel pump out of the gas tank, I noticed that the fuel pump will only work for 2 seconds and than shuts off. I wounder if this is normal. Thanks in advance for for input.

    Default Normal....

Yes, when you put the lanyard cap on, the fuel pump is suppose to run for 2 seconds (to prime system) then shut off till the engine gets a run from the ignition system through the engine management............

Thanks for your input Seadoosnipes, Tomorrow I will clean the fuel pump and install it back to see if the engine will fire up. According to my knowledge, it seems like the engine shuts off due to the lack of fuel.

The fuel pump was working as it should, but the tank was full off debris (gum)which in turn was plugging the fuel line and shuts off the engine due to defeciency of fuel. After I cleaned the fuel tank entirely I never had any problem with shutting off of the engine. Hope to informed you accordingly.

Need more info.... how do you know it isn't pumping fuel? What are the symptoms and what have you checked already?

If there's literrally no fuel in the fuel line, then something has to be stopped up at the pump. The pump is only supposed to come on for a few seconds initially to pressurize the fuel system... have you verified there is fuel in the line and it's under pressure?

The odds of 2 fuel pumps in a row being bad is pretty slim. Something else is going on.

Both pumps had different problems. The original pump was clogged up due to the internal sock screen. The second pump that I tried didn't work either due to the pickup tube being cracked and could not hold the pressure. I fixed the original pump and all is well. It runs perfect. Thanks for you reply.

Well I'll be darned... what're the odds that they both had problems? LOL! Glad to hear you finally got things straightened out though!!!!
