    Question How To Run In A New Doo????

    I pick up a new RXP-X 255 on Friday and it seems whoever you talk too has different instructions on how to do it. Here in Australia I think the dealers are making it up as they go along - no two stories the same! Help Please!!

    If you read the manual it says no more than 3/4 on the gas with short bursts at full for no more than a few seconds at a time and never hold it at one speed to long so vary your speed and after 8-10 hrs your good to go after a 10 hr inspection and oil change. This is what the seadoo manual states. Now some say drive it like you stoled it. Now I just went through this with 7 hrs on mine and I followed the manual.

    Default Break-in

    I totally agree with DIESELMAN. The "ride it like you stole it" as a good break-in proceedure is a urban myth started by someone who didn't have a clue how a internal cumbustion engine, jet pump,etc. work or what they actually go thru when in operation.
    Wait till after the 10 hour service before you run her hard and that way if something does go wrong later you'll know that you did all you could do in the beginning to make sure all of the internal parts had a chance to get to know and like each other.

    I just bought a new 200speedster with 315 hp. You need to do exactly this so the parts don't get too hot and warp during break-in! If you ride it like you stole it, will get overheated and you will experience problems of premature failure down the road.The mfg suggest that you do this so they don't have to pay for defective items before the warranty is over. read your owners manual and do as it says. It is only protecting you from down time in the shop to repair any problems. This is like the 10th new machine I have bought in my life time. Beat the crap out out of it, and it will cost you money later...been there..done that...

    ah...........what the heck!..........I'd say when that clock reaches 9 hours and 58 minutes, I'd punch the throttle to the max!............show them your a man and the Doo can handle it!............
    It may have been close to 10, but you can feel like you did break a rule. That always feels rewarding..........
