Do you think 170 hours is alot of running time on a 5 year old ski?

    ps estimated price 2,500 pounds.
Tell your Seadoo buddies about this place.
Good tips from people in the know.
Its a big world, but this place makes it small and friendly.

Typically, the average boat use in Florida, is 100 hours per yr.(quoted from boat sales people here) As you know we can boat 12 months a year. Just subtract your un useable time from you season and go from there. What is L2,500 pounds in US dollars? I have no clue!

Hi Karl, The pound is about worth twice the Dollar at the moment.
So the price is 5,000 dollars.
I have a choice of 2 ski's to go for this weekend. The RXdi Milenium or an RXP 2002 model. The RXdi needs a starter though as the magnets have come loose in it. The RXP is in running order.
    Both same hours and price.

I bought my Challenger like 4 weeks ago and have put about 25 hrs. on it so far....I'm installing a hr meter to keep track for maintaince reasons. I guess 170 hrs over 5 yrs isn't too bad..Thanks for the mini math lesson. It's pretty cool all the differences around the world.

Hi David with 170 HRS I would check the compression if possible and the pump fins to see if there is any nicks also the impeller use a mirror from under the ski just up inside the grate with a flashlight. Good luck

    Good tips guys.
That Millenium ski, Im not touching.
Because of the broken starter and whatever else is wrong with it.

The RXP might be the best bet. But on Ebay and its 120 miles away.
Im not wanting to jump in on the first ski that catches my eye.
This is the time of year to buy, and lots of bargains to be had.

Mines broken again, (bent prop shaft) Been told of the guys that straightened it that it wont straighten no more.
Its been left in the machine overnight because it started to curl itself when
    taken off.
Something to do with the molecules in the steel.

Yeah! its been bent a couple of times this month.
The 2 piece shaft idea is a bad one I reakon.
Catching a stone in the impellor seems to shift the floating bearing thats inplace.
And that floating bearing has been the cause of a few problems along the way.

A straight through solid shaft ski would have been a better choice, if I can find one.

    Default compression....

running hours doesn't really mean a hole lot, the compression is what matters the most. If it's good, then you'll probably get some good fun for your money

I heard the average here in Florida is 100 hours per year. This is what boat dealers claim to be the most typical, like cars average is 15,000 miles a year.

Moving house would be the answer, or renting a large workshop.
Me and the wife fancy a 7 seat hot tub in the space that we have.
So maybe ending the jet skiing and going for a Seadoo boat.

Its a hard decision, but im getting on and looking into a less strenuos activity.

That's why I got out of the stand up Kawasaki's and got into the jet boats. Plus you have storage for cold drinks and all kinds of goodies.

    Default You gotta be rich!

Insaneta, you gotta be rich or willing to do a second mortgage. Depending on what type of boat your looking for, you can pay anywhere from $20,000 to $35,000. Very expensive, but probably the last boat you'd have to buy in your lifetime.
If your looking for a used one, stay away from the Mercury powered M-2. Not because it's a bad boat by no means, only because there is limited online access to the parts.
But the experience of those I've worked with that have them, LOVE THEM!...
Looking for tips and advice, researched articles on carbs, spark plugs and general maintenance can be found at Snipes Korner. You can also follow me on "Twitter".

Quality parts at low prices, visit Seadoowarehouse right here in our own forum. Please PM me if you are having a problem finding what you need!

Is your jet ski fast? Do you want your XP or RXP to stand out? I know a place that has what you need to make it faster. Make your jetsksi a muscle craft, not just the ordinary, standard stock ski.

Seen my GTX?... Those awesome graphics can be purchased from JetSki Detailing. Tell them Seadooforum sent you.

Ever wonder what the inside of your 787cc engine looks like. Want to identify the parts, check out my thread on the 787. I'm sure there is something for everyone who want to learn about the internal parts.

You mean you have to pay money for a Jet Boat? I just swapped out my Hooters girls to the dealership....I think they had to clean up the showroom or something...all the staff had smiles when I picked them up and said they were thrall!...just kidding, If you buy at the year end, they are a lot cheaper, with extras added on to get them off the floor plan.

It makes sence to look after yourself and familly. I think I have 20 year spurts were I get into a past hobby that I used to do and go back to it.
Moto Cross at 60 maybe. cant see it like.
As You say buying a boat out off season is the way to go.
But over here the seasonal thing just spoils all the fun, with the cold and dark nights.

I like my toys... I have a 06 Charger with a HEMI. I like things that go fast and look good. Now that I'm little older I can afford them. My family needs come first, but you have to play too!
