    951 operating temp

Wow, I like to ride, but not that much! It looks like an afternoon ride in Alaska in May!

    951 Cylinder Decking

I have two 951 carb engines I am assembling, and both are about .090 squish with a head gasket installed and no base gasket. I think the spec is .067 to .091. One has a WSM crank, the other is SeaDoo. Pistons in both engines are WSM. Based on what I know, I need to deck them about .030. This...

    951 operating temp

I understand forged pistons are much more likely to cold seize, especially in cold water.

    Di pistons

I took a Di apart that had over 200 hours, many were at full throttle. The pistons were in very good condition. It the engine is maintained; they will go a long way. Try removing the RAVE valves and looking at the piston skirts. That should tell you a lot.

    New Battery Source

I usually ride about once per week. I bring them inside in the off season where it is heated and charge them periodically.

    New Battery Source

I have been using Chrome Batteries for about 15 years. They cost around $55 including fast shipping. They last 4-5 years.

    Balance shaft

That was my conclusion! The issue is this a "NEW" balance shaft out of the box! I sent it back.

What happened to this balance shaft? I have never seen one machined like this. Any thoughts?

    951 di

There are a number of good pistons available. WSM platinum are OK. Wossner are a work of art. Pro-X are good. I would stay away from SBT. Just my four cents (inflation) Are you going to bore the cylinders? If so, how much?

2002 RXDI Piston and Cylinder Wall Scratches

I think photos make the issues look a little worse than they actually are. Was the engine run out of the water? If so, how long? If you ran it using a garden hose, did you turn the water on then start the engine? I would hone it and run it, make sure that there is plenty of oil on initial...

    Seadoo 951 pop off questions

Low speeds are currently 1.5 out. I dont remember where I set the high speeds at. It may be around .5 out. This engine is not broken in yet so I dont know where they will end up. The previous boats were used at different elevations with other mods, so I don't think they would help much. I may...

    Seadoo 951 pop off questions

You will not have to go back to stock. Once you get it dialed in, it WILL run better than with the stock flame arrestor and you will not have a lean condition. I have had this set up for years on multiple 951's. You need to be very careful about water ingestion. I would put the choke back on as...

XP DI Needs a Timing Light?

When replacing the MPEM, the manual states "In this operation, the ignition timing light and B.U.D.S. are used to synchronize the MPEM TDC reference with the engine crankshaft." You really have to use a timing light? I haven't had one in my hands since the 70's! I didn't know they made them anymore!

951 DI getting a key made

I picked up another Di (I know, I am a glutton for punishment) and it doesn't have a key. The key dude tried a few times and said he couldn't do it. He said he got access to the MPEM and could see if there were any issues but before he could make the key, the MPEM stopped communicating with the...

    15a Fuse Blew

I replaced the ignition coils and solenoid. No change. I replaced the MPEM. No change. It popped the fuse as I tightened the positive cable on the battery. I checked the stator again, still in spec. Engine ground is good. Any ideas?
