    2006 or 2008

They are all going to give you headaches sooner or later, as anything that floats will. Don't know how your search is going, but my only advice is get the newest, nicest ski you can find. I bought old ones and let's just say I have learned a lot about seadoos. Had I to do it over again, I would...

    Impeller

I have tried several different props (Solas, Adonis) in my wife's 2004 GTX 155 and non of them make it much over 46-47 mph. It is cheaper, easier, and far less frustrating to just keep it stock.

    Rear boarding problem

Time to work on that joint mobility. J/k, I feel your pain. At 6ft and 245lbs. of mostly muscle (and some padding) I am about in the same boat. I find it helpful to grab the rear seat handle thingy and pull the back of the ski down into the water a bit to get my knee on the ladder. From there it...

Early 2000's SeaDoo Boarding Ladder Foam Replacement

I have been searching for a solution to replace the foam step cover on my wife's 2004 GTX and was running into all kinds of dead ends. I was about to try using some rubber hose to make the ladder a bit less painful for re-boarding, but I saw a pack of four foam covers for cane handles for $20 on...

    Thoughts on LiFePO Batteries

If I am reading it right, the Rotax 503 has many similarities to the 1503 in their electrical setup, which I think is the big takeaway. Lithium does not like the highs and lows of RPM induced charging even with the regulator and it will degrade the battery through too little input or too much...

    Thoughts on LiFePO Batteries

I was afraid this was going to be the outcome. What I will probably do is take this along when I go out as a backup. It is light enough to carry and if I am stranded, I can either use to jump the regular battery or hook it up for a short period to get back to the dock. I may dig in and see if I...

    Thoughts on LiFePO Batteries

I recently received a free LiFePo 12v battery that is advertised for motorcycles and Jet Skis. Specs: 12V, 8Ah, 480A with a smart battery management system (meaning it can charge off of the host electrical system, no need for special charger). The battery weights less than two pounds and looks...

2006 GTX 4-Tec Supercharged bolts off but stuck

Did you move everything out of the way behind the supercharger (waterbox, tubing, exhaust, etc.)? I had to pull mine back a good way before the s/c gear could get clear of the back of the motor to pull it out. Same with putting it back in. Lots of bloody knuckles on that project.

    Air filters !!

I believe Yamaha's have an air filter, but SeaDoo relies on a very long air intake system to reduce water intrusion. I have changed Yamaha air filters that have a bunch of sludge and water at the bottom of the filter housing, so I am kind of a fan of no air filter right now. Caveat: all of my...

    reverse bucket stuck up position

Check the plastic nut on the left side of the pump that hold the cable as well. It hold the cable so the internal line can pull the bucket up and push it down.

    215 Supercharger Differences?

That is good to know. I will grab a set of newer ones for the rebuild. One of the previous owners switched out one of the supercharger retaining bolts with some mild steal 10mm that felt seconds from snapping off when I removed it so I have to get some new ones anyway.

    215 Supercharger Differences?

Thank you for the information. I did some digging last night via ebay superchargers for sale and you were able to confirm my suspicion the early models didn't have the hold drilled. I am going to use the older one for now and since I am using the newer OEM kit just see what happens since the...

Ski Pylon Install Instructions for 2005 GTX SC

I have a 2008 Wake that has specific attachment points for the ski pylon. If you don't have the wake model, you will likely have to drill holes in your upper hull in the back to make it work. I can take some pictures and measurements if you want them, but I don't think specific instructions exist.

    215 Supercharger Differences?

This one is for the experts. I have a 2008 Wake 215 that has at least three years on its last supercharger rebuild. To limit downtime, I bought a second 215 supercharger so I could just swap out the supercharger in a day. I thought all 16 tooth 215 Rotax superchargers were the same, but the one...

    2008 Wake 215 - Project Ski

Did you put the collar back on the pump shaft when rebuilding? I forgot this vital step when I was rebuilding the pump on my wife's 04 GTX. It caused the bearing to bind and made the impeller hard to turn. It is part #8 on the image.

2002 Seadoo GTX 4 tech ticking noise

I went down this rabbit hole, but I am pretty sure it is the ECU (part# 420664130). Don't buy another MPEM, they are usually fine when experiencing these symptoms. The ECU is not cheap. Here is one on Ebay (Sea-Doo Gtx 4 Tec Ecu | eBay) that is at least an auction. I don't even know how high it...

2002 Seadoo GTX 4 tech ticking noise

Does it drain your battery over time? I, like many others, had a similar issue which was solved by replacing the ECU. My symptoms were continuous start up sequence. Faint clicking and thunks, fuel pump prime and repeat over and over again. I temporarily fixed the issue with a cutoff switch...

What type battery 2008 rotax 4-tec rxt 215?

12v AGM is all you really need. I buy the cheapest ones from Walmart as you only get a couple of years out of them anyway. Some guys spend a fortune on lithium or other high end stuff. Up to you really. As you bought an older ski, I am guessing you, much like myself, are a budget minded...

2008 Challenger 180 Drivers Seat replacement

I noticed the same thing when I had my 180. I was looking at the seats out of the 230. They have the same bolt pattern, but I don't know if it sits higher. The bolster does swing up though to give you a little more height.

2005 GTX SC TOPS, fuel pump and idle air bypass cycle without DESS

Had the same issue with my 2004 GTX. Changed everything, to include the wiring harness, before swapping out a new ECU. ECU fixed it. I also used a switch in the glove box for awhile before I found a decently priced ECU.
