Ive replaced the stator, the coil and a few other things but the engine seems to hold together quite well. Maintenance is also key to these things lasting a long time.

Hmm. Ive seen some posts of older ones coming apart and parts breaking off inside BUT that the newer style like mine is supposed to be the upgraded model. Ill bet that a baffle pipe has come loose. Guess I will have to cut it open and take a look.

Regulators do wear out you could start with that. See if you can find a used one to test it with. Tho Ive also had to replace my stator too.. Check the plug that goes into the mag cover for burnt pins.

So I was out today for a ride. Came back and threw the machine on the trailer. Bounced it from side to side and noticed the common "tink tink tink" sound coming from inside the waterbox.. What was the issue with these things again and what are most people doing to solve the problem? 97 SPX

What did it come with? The 800? Id think something is off somewhere because I see 6800 and mines way fat (rich). You have a stock impeller? Water injection working properly? Done a plug chop lately?

Recreational riding is what we tend to call it. No races, just good times and some pretty big waves in lake ontario. Apparently the guy selling pulled the machine down and it wont crank over so he pulled the offer. Maybe its for the better anyways.

I didnt have anything on mine either. Friend of mine had some thin foam tape, prolly less then 1/16" thick, so I decided to use that. Been on there for a couple years now.

I have an odessy in mine. LOVE it. Dry cell too.

I have yet to work on a two stroke that the carbs are easy to come off of.. (UNLESS) you get those older sleds with the carb in your face, those arent too bad..
